The Martin SC-13 was a real left field treat at NAMM 2020, offering a super modern take on the traditional Martin magic, it’s a versatile, player focused powerhouse. With the Taylor T5z, the Godin Multiac range and the equally impressive Fender Acoustasonic series, brands have really been pushing the boundaries of what we expect from an acoustic guitar, and the Martin SC-13 more than holds its own!
Arguably the most radical design in the Martin arsenal, the SC-13 has proved to be a real fan favourite. So it’s only fitting that 2022 sees the SC line expanded to include 3 new variations!
The Martin SC-13 Special is constructed with a Ziricote Veneer back and sides topped with a lovely piece of Sitka Spruce. This guitar has a really sweet tone with incredible sustain and resonance. The top has been beautifully decorated with a Tortoise shell pickguard and an Aperture design rosette. Available in both Natural and with a delicious Burst finish, the SC-13 Special boasts the revolutionary new cutaway. With the patent-pending Sure Align neck system, Martin utilised a heel-less design, providing full access to all 20 frets, perfect for those great acoustic solos!
Fitted with a LR Baggs Element this guitar is perfect a live setting, however don’t be fooled, while the SC-13E Special is designed to be plugged in, it’s still a Martin so it sounds amazing unplugged.
The brand new SC-10 features a Fishman MX-T in place of the LR Baggs Element, while the satin finished Sitka Spruce top and Koa veneer back and sides deliver a time honoured tonal pairing. It may be the slightly striped back younger sibling, but the SC-10 delivers big where it matters, punching well above its modest price tag.
